Transportation Assistance for the Visually Impaired

about us

Hi. My name is Sophia Liporace.  I was born with Congenital Nystagmus, an uncorrectable condition that impairs my ability to see. Many children with nystagmus have severe impairment, but I am lucky in that my condition is mild and I will be able to drive. But many people with visual impairment are not so
fortunate. Visual impairment is the 9th leading cause of disability in the United States and Florida leads the nation in the number of visually impaired children and adults. Nationwide almost 4 million people are visually impaired; many of whom cannot obtain a driver’s license nor can they afford private or public transportation.

To help some of the people who are less fortunate that I am, I created the charitable foundation Eye Ride Foundation. It is my foundation’s mission to promote independence in visually impaired people by assisting them with their transportation costs.

Help Our Cause

Visual impairment is the 9th leading cause of disability in the United States. We’re here to promote independence to the visually impaired.
