Sophia Liporace was born with Congenital Nystagmus, an eye condition which creates uncorrectable visual impairment. In 2017 Sophia presented a TEDx talk regarding her condition and the importance of understanding ourselves through the power of knowledge. Sophia does not view her condition as an obstacle but rather as an opportunity to help others who are less fortunate. Sophia will be able to drive, but millions of people who have visual impairment cannot, thereby relying on public and private transportation. Later in 2017, in order to help those less fortunate than her, Sophia created Eye Ride Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to raise and provide financial assistance to the visually impaired in order to help offset their transportation costs and promote their independence.
